As League of Legends offseason kicks off, many changes are taking place—both in-game and in real life. One of the most drastic changes in-game is the item shop update. Not only were the icons of all items updated, but the whole shop interface was also changed.
The Recommended tab was completely redone, now taking into consideration your player data and build recommendations based on high-level player data. The shop now also displays items that will be good against what the opponent team is building, granting the game a more tactical approach. The All Items tab is now divided into categories, based on items typically built by a specific class. Other filters available include the Popular filter and the Rarity sort.
Another great addition to the updated Item Shop is the Quick Buy sidebars. These sidebars are constant in the interface and offer easy access to essential items—such as booths, potions, wards, and elixirs. The updated Item Shop is nice to look at, though it might take a game or two to truly grow used to the changes. However, these updates definitely enhance the game experience, especially for players who are yet to polish their building skills.
Amongst the changes happening off-game, a handful of rosters are being updated, deals are being closed and signings are fresh off the paper. Schalke 04, for example, snatched Broken Blade from TSM and LIMIT from SK Gaming. 100 Thieves lived up to their names by “stealing” both FBI and Closer from the Golden Guardians. And of course, as previously reported by us, Evil Geniuses is also making big moves, recently signing Impact, IgNar, and Lost.
One of the off-season’s greatest surprises was Golden Guardians releasing its entire LCS roster, despite their successful previous season. With so many changes this early into the offseason, who knows what 2021 will bring to the LoL eSport scene. Whatever happens, it will be interesting, for sure.
