Weeks after parting ways with Fnatic, Daryn “iceiceice” Koh Pei Xiang has found a new home. After leaving his former team while seeking new opportunities, horizons, and potentially a new region, iceiceice has found his way into one of North America’s oldest gaming organizations. Founded in 1999, Evil Geniuses is a highly successful competitive team, considered by many the best gaming organization to exist.
Upon the departure of laner Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev, Evil Geniuses had a free slot ready to be filled. Two days ago, it was announced that iceiceice had snatched the position and signed with them. After over a decade of competing in Asia, it will certainly be interesting to see Daryn develop in another scenario. While this marks the end of an era for the Asian eSport scene, it opens a new one for Daryn, Evil Geniuses, and NA as a whole.
“Our Dota team just got a whole lot cooler,” Evil Geniuses stated in their official Twitter account, “as we welcome iceiceice to the LIVE EVIL family.” While Evil Geniuses already had a strong team for their DOTA 2 roaster, including Arteezy, Abed, Cr1t- and Fly, Daryn is certainly an interesting addition. If we learned anything from the Malaysian’s performance while in Fnatic, is that he is a force to be reckoned with. It feels as if iceiceice has been prominent in the professional gaming scene throughout DOTA 2’s whole lifetime. It is worth mentioning that iceiceice has played with the best teams in both China and Southeast Asia, including Vici Gaming, Team DK, and of course, Fnatic.
Iceiceice’s addition to Evil Geniuses promises to be a blatant success. If Daryn’s performance continues to be what he has delivered in the past years, Evil Geniuses is certainly about to become legendary.
