Blast is a global esports championship organizer with millions of viewers. The collaboration between Blast and TW Steel was announced just in time for the spring edition of Blast Premier, the company’s flagship project where 12 CS: GO teams go head to head to compete for the title of the champion ship. The spring finals start today, June 15th and will last for 6 days till 21st June 2020. The arena where the tournament is conducted is usually packed to the brim and millions of people watch it on television. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, Blast pivoted from the stadium to stream.
TW Steel, the Dutch watchmaker is official timing partner of Blast Premier. To mark the occasion and celebrate this partnership, the company has unveiled two watch models based on Counter-Strike. Keeping in touch with the watchmaker’s signature style, both the models feature large dials. The design on the Volante variant is inspired by iconic CS: GO map and the classic white crosshair in the centre. The Maverick variant comes with an all-black sleek design along with a crosshair on the stopwatch. Both the models feature Blast Premier’s iconic triangular logo at the 6’o clock.
While there have been many watches based on a variety of sports by dozens of watchmakers, the two timepieces by TW steels are the first e-sports inspired watches. The deal between Blast and TW Steels is a part of long term collaboration where we can expect to see a lot of CS: GO inspired timepieces and products in the future. The deal between the two has also opened the pathway for e-sports themed watches by luxury manufacturers. Given that e-sports is amassing millions of followers by the day and is being recognised as a proper sport, we can expect to see a lot of such collaborations in the future.
